Alan Leroy Miller 72, of Rockford, IL
Passed away Monday, June 2. 2025 at PA Peterson at the Citadel. Born
January 27, 1953 at Swedish American Hospital to Clarence & Mary Jane (Hurd) Pippin.
Due to an unforeseen illness Alan was adopted to Floyd & Florence (Griffiths) Miller.
Alan grew up in Rockton, IL and graduated class 1971 from Hononegah High School.
Even as a young man Alan loved the Rockton Community and involved himself in Cub Scouts,
was the summer pool lifeguard, and for years delivered the Rockton Herald Newspaper.
At 19 years old Alan was reunited with biological family and discovered he had 5 siblings.
Alan married Patricia Tallacksen in 1976 and became the loving father to two daughters Nicole & Leslie
Alan worked at many Rockford machine shops (Greenlee, Rockwell) But in the 80's he decided to get sober
and venture out on his own he opened his pallet business and joined Alcoholics Anonymous in
December of 1985. Owning his own business gave him the freedom to do what he really loved
going to AA meetings & helping others who were struggling with addiction.
Alan loved sharing his experience, strength and hope and did so for 39 Years at Speaker meetings, picnics,
potlucks, dances, and Sowani's in his hometown Rockton. Some of Alan's other hobbies were playing the piano,
watching sports games with his daughters Go Cubs/Bears ! and playing his music (Gospel, Country, & Classic rock)
at deafening levels. To us girls it was just dad putting on another one of his concerts Oh how we miss dads concerts now!
Alan was Predeceased by his loving parents Floyd & Florence Miller,
Clarence Pippin, & Mary Jane Nelson. His sister Sally Valtenburg & beloved Partner Donna Mueller.
Sadly, Alan leaves behind his loving daughters Nicole (Tyler) Nathan & Leslie Clarke
his 3 grandchildren Zachary & Clara (AKA Austin) Nathan
Savannah Clarke . His sisters Jan (Bob) Ferry, Linda (Leroy) Pederson, Charlotte Casey, & Carol (Max) Loya
Brothers Patrick Pippin & John Nelson as well as many nieces, & nephews and lifelong friends.
Celebration of life will be Saturday July 12, 2025 at the Salvation Army Temple 500 S Rockford Ave
Rockford IL 61104.
