Barbara J. Roby

On August 4, 2021 Barbara Joan (Pearson) Roby, recently of DeKalb/Sycamore, IL, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by people she loved.

Barbara was born and raised in Moline, IL , to Emil and Signe Pearson. She met and married Clarence (Casey) V. Roby, in Moline, before they moved to Chicago, IL, where they raised their 8 children. Barbara moved to Hillsdale, MI in the 1980s, where she lived for many years, before moving to Durham, NC and then to Sycamore & DeKalb, IL.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Gene Pearson, and her daughter Gail Roby-Bankowski. She is survived by her children- son Stephen (Connie) Roby, daughter Barbara (Tom) Lepkowski, son Douglas Roby, daughter Diane (Mark) Gorecki, daughter Dawn Gunia, daughter Laurie Buch , son Michael (Lynn) Roby; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial Mass is planned for Friday September 3rd, 1:00PM at St. Bede the Venerable, 8200 S. Kostner Ave., Chicago, IL for family and friends, with a Celebration of Life to be held at the Palos Heights Christian Reformed Church, 7059 W. 127th St., Palos Heights, IL , following the mass at approx. 2:30P - 5:00PM.   A private burial is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Salvation Army, a favorite charity of Barbara's.
