Barbara Helen Kraemer, age 85, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
Born Barbara Helen White, she lived a life filled with love, adventure, and deep devotion to family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bernard David Kraemer, to whom she was married on September 23, 1961. Together they built a life rich in memories, laughter, and enduring love until his passing in October of 2024.
Barbara is lovingly remembered by her four children: Lori (George) Dundore, Richard (Marta) Kraemer, Ginny (Doug) Thompson, and Chris (Matt) Polnow. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Cameron Gray, Claire (Dustin) Gray, Kassie (Kyle) Hawkins, Lindsay Kraemer, Joshua (Michael) Peters, Mark (Amanda) Peters, Megan (Jeremy) Polnow, and Tucker Polnow. Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren: Oliver, Emerson, Kaine, and Atlas.
She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia (Doug) Fiedler and Frances Kenney, along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Barbara was known for her kindness, quick wit, and unwavering support. Her warmth and generosity left lasting impressions that will be cherished for generations.
She had a deep love of travel and explored the country from coast to coast — often by rail — always eager to discover something new. She was an avid golfer and later became a dedicated and competitive bridge player. But above all else, her greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren. With her signature humor, she often joked that she “had to raise her own friends,” and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Plymouth United Methodist Church in Orfordville, Wi. A luncheon will be held following the burial where family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and fellowship.
In lieu of donations, Barbara’s family encourages you to honor her spirit of curiosity and joy for life: take an adventure, go explore somewhere unexpected, or try something you’ve never done before. She was deeply loved for sharing her wonderful discoveries — and her family hopes others will continue that tradition in her memory.
She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
