Bertha Joanne Thornton, 78, died peacefully March 9, 2022, in Melbourne, FL. She was born April 5, 1943, in Ontonagon, Michigan. Joanne attended Eau Gallie First Baptist Church in Melbourne, FL.
She will be loved and missed by her sister, Carol Marie Thornton (Peru, IA); children, Allena (Jeff) Fortson (Belvidere, IL) and Kip (Tessa) Ambler (Melbourne, FL); grandchildren, Jennifer (Colin) Dornink (Machesney Park, IL), Jessica Fortson (Winnebago, IL), Austin McClenthen (Belvidere, IL), Jud (Cynthia) Magat (Misawa Air Force Base Japan), Julie (Chris) McGhee (Wimauma, FL) and Quinn Ambler (Melbourne, FL); great-grandchildren, Timothy Rodriguez, Eleanor & Cordelia Dornink, Maliyah, Micah & Milianah Magat and Chelsea & Hayden McGhee; Nephew Mel Morey, Chris (Kim Clark) Jacobsen, Shane (Leilani) Dupes; Nieces Janita (Todd) Humphry, Wendy Morey and Gina (James) Jones along with many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews along with many friends from over the years.
Bertha Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Jennie and Ernest Thornton; husband, Allen Ambler (1989), husband, James Pierce (2015), brother Robert Hill (2017) and brother Ernest Thornton (2022).
There will be a visitation at 11:00 am on Friday, 3/18/2022, at Highland Garden of Memories Chapel, Belvidere, IL with graveside service at 12:00 Noon, officiated by Pastor Michael Labate.
