Claude Smith Obituary

Claude Oscar Smith was born July 1st, 1937 in Phelps County, Missouri to John and Mary (Mitchell) Smith. Claude, a long time resident of Belvidere, Illinois passed away peacefully on August 3rd, 2021 in his home surrounded by loved ones. He was survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon (Sawyer) Smith, his children: Mary (Jim Steele) Thompson, Janet (Smith) Solberg, grandchildren: Travis Smith, Justin (Katie) Jones, Cheyanne Williams, Haley Solberg, and great-grandchild Naya Jones; many nieces, nephews, and close friends. Claude was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank (Shirley) Smith, Leroy Smith, Earl Smith, Archie (Ann) Smith, and beloved sister Irene (Bob) Hart.
Claude served in the Army for 4 years. He worked in manufacturing for most of his life, and held a passion for classic cars. He was known for his sense of humor and wise remarks.

Celebration of life will be held at 832 Sullivan Dr, Belvidere, Illinois on August 22, with an open house between 12pm-5pm.
