Darlene B. Otterson

Darlene Otterson, 82, of Sycamore, Illinois, passed away on October 19,2025. She was born on April 20, 1943, in Chicago,Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Bernice Johnson. 

Darlene was an incredible mother, grandmother, and friend. Her love and care for others was unmatched, as she continually made sure everyone had what they needed and never went without. Whether she was near or far, Darlene made sure her familyknew they were loved and cared for and never left anyone out of her daily prayers. Darlene enjoyed a variety of things but mostly enjoyed reading and cooking. She was a passionate reader and would often be found with a book in her hands. Alongside reading, Darlene was a phenomenal hostess. She enjoyed making sure others felt welcomed and at home when she had company over. She has been described by her children as, strong, compassionate, selfless, supportive, a hero, protector, and an angel. Darlene will be incredibly missed, but her love for others will never be forgotten.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and best friend and partner, Don Davidson. She is survived by her children, Robin (Don) Stewart, Courtney Otterson, and James (Monica) Reichard; her grandchildren, Jeff (Kaela) Stewart, Brett Stewart, Jordan (Ryan) Papa; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Charlie, and Jaede Stewart. 

At this time, no public funeral or burial services will take place. The family will be holding a private ceremony to honor and celebrate the life of Darlene.
