Donald Ray Drewitz, age 73, of Rochelle, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois.
Don was born on January 17, 1952, in Portage, Wisconsin, to Arnold and Clara (Zuhlke) Drewitz. He was raised in Westfield, where he graduated from high school and went on to pursue higher education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. In 1975, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.
Don dedicated nearly 30 years of his professional life to Del Monte/Kraft, where he rose to the position of Plant Production Supervisor. A pivotal moment in his career came in 1995 when he played an instrumental role in implementing and setting up the new Jell-O pudding mass production machine lines, a project he was deeply proud of.
Beyond his career, Don was a man who found joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the tranquility and challenge of nature. As a dedicated father, he shared his love of animals and agriculture with his daughters, teaching them how to raise and show rabbits at local county fairs- memories they will always cherish.
Don is survived by his daughters: Emilie Drewitz, Julia Drewitz, and Claire (Michael) Mattingly; his granddaughter, Autumn Mattingly; his sister Carla (Gary) Raymond; his brother Dean Drewitz; and his sister Linda Lehman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Clara Drewitz, and his sister Dianne Groskreutz.
