Edward “Eddie” Anthony Axtell, age 23, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on September 19, 2025. Born on July 30, 2002, in Woodstock, Illinois, Eddie was the beloved son of Jessica and Donald Axtell. From the very beginning, Eddie had a rare gift for lighting up any room he walked into. His humor, warmth, and imagination drew people in and made them feel truly seen. Eddie was an integral part of LilyBug Acres, where he worked alongside his close family friend Frankie Visconti. To the patrons there, he wasn’t just an employee—he was family. His easy smile, generous heart, and natural way of making connections left an imprint on everyone who crossed his path. He loved video games, anime, being out on the water, and most of all, time spent with family. Eddie had a way of pulling people into his world with his words, whether through laughter, conversation, or simple presence. He was a young man who carried both gentleness and strength, and he never hesitated to share kindness where it was needed most. Eddie is survived by his parents, Jessica and Donnie Axtell; his brothers, Brian and Gregory Axtell; his nephew Abel Axtell; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Sherry and Forrest Axtell, and Natalie Rockwell; and uncle David Axtell. Eddie will forever be remembered for the light he carried, the joy he gave, and the love he spread so effortlessly. The measure of a life is not in years lived, but in the love left behind. Eddie’s love will never fade. A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held at Capron Methodist Church, 250 W. North Street, Capron, Illinois, on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 12:00pm. All who loved Eddie are welcome to attend.
