In Loving Memory of Elena Lynn DesRosiers (Avery)
July 13, 1977 – June 3, 2025
Elena Lynn DesRosiers (Avery), 47, passed away on June 3, 2025, in Rockford, Illinois. Though her journey ended there, her heart always belonged to Chicago—where she was born, raised, and returned to time and again, no matter how many states life took her through.
Elena was a woman of deep emotion, quiet strength, and the kind of love that could hold you together even when life tried to pull you apart. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend—someone who gave endlessly, loved fiercely, and never stopped showing up for the people she loved.
She is survived by her six beloved daughters:
Alyssa Avery DesRosiers,
Ashley Dayle DesRosiers,
Ellianna Deborah DesRosiers,
Lyrical Rosa DesRosiers,
Payton Ellie DesRosiers, and
Orchid Rose DesRosiers.
She is now reunited in heaven with her infant daughter, Nevaeh DesRosiers, born sleeping in 2008—a loss that never left her heart, only deepened the way she loved her living children.
Elena is also survived by her sister Ruth Zupancic (Avery), her brother-in-law Dave Zupancic, and their son—her cherished nephew—Dave “DJ” Zupancic Jr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Dale DesRosiers, who passed away in 2020. Elena and Bobby were married in 1996 and shared a life full of love, challenges, and unbreakable connection. She remained his widow until the day she passed, holding onto his memory with devotion. She was also preceded by her parents, her grandparents, and her daughter Nevaeh.
Elena may not have served long in the United States Navy, but her service was honorable—and so was her decision to leave early to raise her first two daughters. That choice, like so many she made, was an act of love and sacrifice.
She lived in many states throughout her life, always searching for a better future and new beginnings. No matter where she went, she brought her laughter, her fire, her tenderness, and her unwavering heart. She was always cleaning—not just to tidy up, but to create peace and comfort. She had a soft spot for stray cats, for hurting people, for anyone who needed a safe place.
She loved swimming and the beach, romantic movies like A Walk to Remember, and her daily soap operas—Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, and Passions. She was a fan of Charmed, proudly naming her daughter Alyssa after Alyssa Milano. She enjoyed her makeup, hoop earrings, White Castle, and sweet treats—but more than anything, she treasured time with her daughters.
Her best friend Diane stood by her side for decades. Their friendship was a shelter in every storm, a constant when life offered little stability. Elena’s laugh could light up a room, and her love could anchor a whole family.
Though she is no longer here, Elena is finally at peace—resting in the arms of those she longed for: her husband Bobby, her daughter Nevaeh, her parents, her grandparents, and the generations who came before her.
She may be at rest, but she is—forever and always—our mother, our sister, our friend.
