Gail McPheron Obituary

Gail McPheron, 78, of Beloit passed away peacefully on January 26, 2020 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Gail was born on February 16, 1941 in West Frankfort, IL to Marie (Bell) and William “Ardell” Leeper. Gail married Kenneth Ray McPheron, Sr. in 1957, and they had 2 children, Kenny and Kimber. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts from Barat College of the Sacred Heart. She found her calling in working with young children and spent most of her working years as a pre-school and substitute teacher, prior to retirement. In addition to teaching, Gail enjoyed painting and dancing. She was also an avid animal lover. More than animals, Gail showed concern and compassion for all people, and loved with her whole heart. She was selfless, and lifted all who knew her with loving words and kindness.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Ray McPheron Jr; her granddaughters Tymica (Jeff) Wright, Amanda (Chris) Britt, Christina (Trey) Davis, and Justyne (Eric) Lackner; great grandchildren Marcus, Jenna, Tripp, Bryson, Macie, and Natalie, her niece Anita, and other beloved cousins and in-laws. The family would love to give a special thanks to David Martin for assisting in her care. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, her former husband Ken McPheron, her daughter Kimber Lynn Carter, her daughter in law Sharon Elliott McPheron, and fiancé Mike Dunnigan.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 30 from 11-12 at Highland Garden of Memories, 9800 Route 76, Belvidere IL, with graveside services following at 1:30 at Diamond Lake Cemetery on Townline Rd in Mundelien, IL.
