Obituary

Gary Luverne Weigel, age 83, of Rockford, IL/Belmont, WI, peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 after a heroic battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Gary was born September 2, 1938 in Hazel Green Wisconsin to George and Velma (Simmons) Weigel and raised in Elk Grove Township. He graduated from Belmont High School in 1957. Gary honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Upon completing his service, he began a long career as a butcher.

Gary was happiest enjoying time with his family, experiencing the world through travel, casting a reel along a bank or two, and the Green Bay Packers. His mustached smile filled his face and made everyone cherish his humor, openness, and kind heartedness.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Robin Weigel, his three beloved daughters Pam (fiancé Dan Graber) Speth, Dawn Weigel, Tiffany (Jamie) Trewartha, sister Patricia Novinski, stepchildren Dawn (Randy) Harriott, Jason (Darlene) Masters, Shawn Masters and his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

He was greeted into Heaven by his parents, brothers George Henry and Berwyn “Buzz” (Barbara) Weigel, sister Jean (Clarence) Weigel, brother-in-law Robert Novinski, mother-in-law Beulah Ogilvie and stepdaughter Amy Ogilvie.

Gary will be laid to rest in a private family graveside service in the Belmont Cemetery on March 12, 2022 with a Celebration of Life to follow at Peace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Belmont. Go in peace, Gary, until we are reunited again in his Heavenly Kingdom.
