Belvidere - Georgia Schnor, 82, or Belvidere passed away Tuesday, May 27th, 2025 peacefully in her home after a long illness. Born June 5, 1942 in Oak Park, IL. Daughter of Raymond and Dorothy Pixley. She grew up in Savanna, IL on a farm with her parents and 5 siblings where her love for agriculture, gardening, and her show cows began. Georgia spent her life caring for others as a Registered Nurse. She started her career as an ER nurse, then OB/GYN, and converted to long term care where she was the Director of Nursing for over 30 years at Northwoods Care Center. During that time she became a Certified Wound Nurse and also obtained her Nursing Instructor to help teach and guide the future generations of nurses as well. In her free time, she volunteered for many years with the Boone County Gardeners of America Club and with the Belvidere Police Department's Volunteers in Police Service (VIPs) program. Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer (Rick) Westendorf of Rockford, and Rebecca Schnor of Belvidere. Grandchildren; Courtney (Angel) VerHagen-Anderson, Jacob Westendorf, Adam Westendorf, Jack Schnor, Calvin Schnor, and Raichel Schnor. Three Great Grandchildren; Lucas, Blake, and Deacon. Predeceased by her parents, husband John "Doug" Schnor, daughter Annette (Walt) VerHagen, son Doug (Kris) Schnor, and sisters Sue Collins and Virginia Kowley.
Services will be held Monday, June 2nd with visitation from 11am - Noon and graveside burial immediately after at the Chapel in Highland Garden of Memories, 9700 Route 76, Belvidere, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in care of family will be donated.
