Glenn Hanson Obituary

Glenn Leroy Hanson, born June 27, 1932, in Chippewa County, Wisconsin, to Leo and
Lillian (Austin) Hanson passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025, leaving a legacy of
faith, family, and infectious joy. On July 2, 1957, in Saint Louis, Missouri, he married the
love of his life, Maxine Allen, building a beautiful life together. A devoted father to
seven—Chris (Renae) Hanson, Kevin (Julie) Hanson, Lars (Tonya) Hanson, Beth
Hanson, Lisa Hanson, Heather (Don) Goakey, and Dulcie (Todd) Keckler—Glenn
cherished his eighteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1969, he devoted his life to sharing his faith
in his God Jehovah. A skilled large equipment operator and mechanic, he built a life of
integrity, but it was his loving smile and wonderful sense of humor that lit up every room.
Whether traveling, playing cards with family, sharing stories, or savoring a sweet donut,
Glenn’s warmth brought happiness to those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lillian, his brothers, Ronald and
Russell, his beloved wife, Maxine, and his dear daughter, Lisa.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the compassionate staff on the
fourth floor east of OSF Hospital and OSF Hospice for their care of Glenn.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witnesses, 9511 North Second Street, Machesney Park, Illinois, with a
visitation from 2:00-3:00 p.m. and a memorial talk immediately following.

We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was
lived, and for the impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing
him. We look forward to welcoming him back in paradise together.
