Jacqueline C. Volk, 92 of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully Friday, August 21, 2020 at Park Place Nursing Home. Born May, 27, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa to Isadore and Genevieve Kuhl. Married Layne Volk on January 27, 1949. Preceded in death by husband of 56 years, son Greg Volk and grandson Nick Volk. Survived by children Jeff (Dusahn) Volk, Connie (Tim) Mills and Barbara (Joseph) Balentyne, sisters Joanne Verbockel and Ruth (Dean) Carstens. Jackie was a devoted grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Jackie graduated from Nebraska State Teachers College and began teaching first through eighth grade in a small country school in Sholes, Nebraska. Jackie and Layne owned a dairy farm in Sharon, IL and resided in Harvard for several years. In 1974 they moved to Belvidere where they owned and operated Layne's Coin Wash for 23 years. Jackie also worked for Civil Service, was an election judge, and enjoyed playing piano. She hosted many holidays and Chicago Bear games with her family.
She loved golfing with friends at the Bel Mar Country Club but most of all adored time with her family and grandchildren. She always looked at life in a positive way and was the kindest, sweetest person you could ever meet.
She was a devout Catholic and long time member of St James Catholic Church. Private Interment will be at Highland Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to St. James Church in Belvidere.
