Jeffrey Lee Commisso, 65, of Sterling, passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2018.
Born September 22, 1953 in Sterling, Illinois, he was the son of Joe and Nellie (Eller)
Commisso. Jeff graduated from Sterling High School and married Martha (Edmonds) on May 8, 1976. Jeff
was a journeyman pipefitter/plumber and project manager for over 30 years and was a member
of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 25 in Rock Island, IL. He spent the majority of his career at
Mechanical Inc. in Freeport. He retired in April 2016 and was enjoying more free time with his
family. He loved to spend time with family, tinkering with cars, golfing, and working out.
One of Jeff’s greatest joys in life was being with his wife, Martha and a father to his three sons,
Anthony (Melissa) of Rockton, IL; Michael (Kathy) of Chicago, IL; and Adam of Chicago, IL.
He is survived by his wife; sons; three loving grandchildren - Dominic, Nicolas, and Ava
(Anthony); brothers – Joel (Tammy), Mel, Tim (Cathy), and David (Kim); nieces and nephews;
and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. His wife and sons will look back fondly on
their childhood; from singing songs to his sons at night, to watching stars in the backyard, and
most importantly, they will miss the sound of his voice, their long talks, and words of wisdom
encouraging them to always do their best. He will be missed by many but remembered always.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 3,
2018, with an open house from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. (formal celebration of life at 3:00 p.m.) at
Woodlawn Arts Academy, 3807 Woodlawn Rd., Sterling, IL. To leave an online condolence,
