Jesus G. Berreles

Jesus G. Berreles, 76, passed away surrounded by his family on June 20,2025, at his home in Belvidere, lllinois. A memorial of life will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere, IL on June 30, 2025, at 11 AM.

Jesus, better known as Chuy, was born on December 25, 1948, to parents Matilde and Gregorio Berrelez in Pearsall, Texas. Jesus married Rebecca Rendon in November 1965 and started a family that included his son Jesus (Jesse), Jr, Cynthia (Cindy), and Patricia (Pat). Jesus worked hard his entire life, be it professionally or as a family man. He served as a father figure not only to his children, but for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jesus selflessly gave everything he had to ensure the wellbeing of all his family. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling the country with Rebecca in their camper and rooting for the Chicago Cubs.

Jesus was preceded in death by his parents Matilde and Gregorio; Siblings Pedro, Marcos, and Jose; and son-in-law Robert Flores, Sr.

Jesus is survived by his loving wife of 59 years (60 years in November 2025), Rebecca Berreles; his three children Jesse (Irene) Berreles, Jr., Cindy Berrelez, and Pat (Luis) Delagarza; siblings Gregorio (Anita) Berreles, Yolanda (Hilberto) Sanchez, Gloria Ruiz, and Catarina (Lupe) Hurtado; grandchildren Ashley Berreles, Robert (Sarah) Flores, Jr., Jesus Berreles II, Jeffrey Flores, Anthony (Stephanie) Delagarza, Johnny (Quinn) Delagarza, Dylan Berreles, Dakota Berreles, Raymond (Silvia) Delagarza, Christy Berreles, Rocky Delagarza, Nina (Damen) Delagarza,

and Naomy Cortes; and 10 great-grandchildren.
