Jose Alberto Rosa Sr.

Jose Alberto Rosa Sr ,72, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 3rd 2025. Born in Juncos, Puerto Rico on December 28th, 1952 to the late Ambrosio Rosa Pomales and Petra Pena, Jose moved to Rockford at the age of 17 and made it his lifelong home.

A dedicated forklift driver by trade , Jose was best known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his generous heart and unmatched skill in the kitchen, Cooking was his passion, and those lucky enough to share a meal with him knew they were experiencing something special. His dishes were made with love- just like everything he gave to those around him. 

Jose was the husband of the late Brenda Rosa who passed on March 6th 2019. They shared 46 loving years together. Jose was a devoted father to his daughter Tianna (Michael Anthony) Rosa and a loving godfather to Ashley Laureano. He was also a very proud grandfather to Mia (Jamal) Mcgee, Isaiah Lumpkins, Jeremy (Amanda) Perencevic, Jose Rosa and Alicia (Carlos Rodriguez) Rosa , He was a great-grandfather to Elianna Lumpkins, Elijah Lumpkins, Jonathan Rosa, Dylan Rodriguez, Josiah Rodriguez, Jorge Rodriguez and Julian Rodriguez who brought him so much joy and lots of love, He was also brother to Juana Colon and Ramona Rosa Alvarez. And good friends to the Beer family and the Ramirez family.  

A true Chicago Bears fan, Jose cheered on his team with fierce loyalty. But above all else, he loved his family more than life itself. His presence, his laughter, his unconditional love and definitely his arroz con gandules will be deeply missed and forever remembered. 

Jose was predeceased by his parents, brothers Celestino Rosa and Arnaldo Rosa Pena, sister Josefina Rosa, his wife Brenda, his sons Jose Alberto Rosa Jr and Rafael Rosa, grandchild Gabriel Rosa and great grandchild Mateo Rodriguez,
