Karen S. Eklund

Karen Sue Eklund, age 81, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Belvidere, IL to Roy Yerk and Dorothy Hegberg, Karen spent many years working as a factory worker and retired from Amerock.

She was married to Robert Eklund for 30 years, until his passing in 2010.  Karen found joy in the simple things- tending to her beautiful yard, solving jigsaw puzzles and cheering on her beloved Bears.  Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children: son, Thomas Feltz; daughters, Sharen (Jeff) Brooks and Deborah (Mike) Roberts; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, all of whom adored their Grammy.  She also leaves behind her brother, Terry (Sharon) Yerk, sisters, Jean (Tom) Garofolo, Janie Larkin and many cousins, nieces, nephews, who lovingly knew her as Aunt Titi.

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eklund, her daughter, Barbara Prentice, her sister, Kathleen Mitchell, her parents, Roy and Dorothy and grandson, Michael Roberts II (Doo).

Karen will be laid to rest alongside her husband at a private family service.
