Kaye Slagle Obituary

Kaye Ileen Slagle, aged 87, of Belvidere, IL, passed away on January 20, 2026, at
Trustwell Living at Cherryvale Place in Rockford, IL. Her life was characterized by
kindness, resilience, and unwavering love, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Kaye was born on June 14,1938 in Viola, WI, to Leland and Eva Miller. While attending
Viola High School, she enjoyed playing the clarinet and preforming as a majorette in the
marching band. She married Charles Slagle on September 1,1954, in West Lima, WI,
eventually moving to Maple Ridge in LaFarge Wi. Together they raised five children that
meant the world to her.
In 1972, the family relocated to Belvidere, IL. Kaye dedicated over 25 years to Chrysler
Corporation and was a member of UAW Local 1268. Her joy was found in the simple
pleasures of life, nurturing her garden, watching birds, swimming, enjoying country
music, collecting dolls and doting on her cherished pets. Above all, her greatest joy
came from being with her family and friends, each held a treasured part of her heart.
In addition to her parents, Kaye was preceded in death by her beloved husband,
Charles, as well as three sons (Rolland, Rodney and Mark), a grandson (Jason), a
sister (Loretta Worthington) and a brother (Larry Miller). Their memories lived tenderly in
her heart.
She is survived by her children: Russell (Lisa) Slagle; daughters Marilyn Spradling and
Dawn Rogers; beloved family member Terry (Slagle) Tuley; special friend Bill Barker;
along with eight grandchildren; Tanya, Daniel, Mike, Chad, Kyle, Breanna, Cory and
Collin; thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. Sisters Vicky
Yarolimik and Kathy Straight also survive her, as do numerous extended family
members and friends.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to those who made our mothers’
last days comfortable. A special thank you to Natalie, Maggie and Pam at Heartland
Hospice, for the exceptional love and care they provided to Kaye.
While her passing has left an irreplaceable void, Kaye’s spirit will continue to shine, and
her bright smile will remain in the hearts of those who loved her. A gathering to
celebrate her life is planned for a later date.
