Kristan Kay (McNett) Lauer
Passed away at home on June 14, 2024 surrounded by family. Born August 30, 1952 to
Richard and Betty (Allen) McNett in Rochelle, IL. Lived her youth in Mt. Morris, IL and her adult
life in Rockford and Rochelle. Survived by her husband Michael Lauer (married July 6, 1996),
his sons and daughters in law, Jason and Jen, John and Amy, Zac and Cindy, grandchildren
Jared, Camryn, Neva, Sam, Kinsey, Erin, Carsyn, Sean, Morgan, Sophie, Bryce, Carmyn, Addy
and future great grandchild, Kevin. Mothers of grandchildren, Beth Larson, Jodi Block and Jill
Taylor. Brother Steven McNett and sister in law Chris McNett, sisters in law, Sharon Lauer and
Dusty Cremer. Nieces and nephews, Bryn and Tim Martinek, Brian and Molly McNett, Todd and
Cara Haugh, Stephanie Haugh and Jason Hammer, Jim and Jessica Lauer and Cathryn and
Mike Shoup. Also survived by a “Sister of the Heart” Jody Dahmen and her daughters Katie
and Liz Dahmen.
Among her special friends are MMHS Class of ‘70, Rockford Memorial Hospital Class of ‘73,
childhood Hannah Ave friends, OSF and RMH coworkers, Lac Vieux Desert family, Bridge
Center of Rockford, Book Club, Meridian Schools, Galena Gals and McNett/Gecan/Branine
cousins.
Predeceased by parents, Richard (7/29/11) and Betty (1/30/16), brother David McNett
(11/27/23) and Mike’s son David Lauer (8/27/23).
The family will welcome guests for coffee and gathering at 10:00 am on Saturday June 22, 2024
at The Disciples United Methodist Church, 102 N. Maple Ave, Mt. Morris, IL 61054. A memorial
service will follow at 11:00 am. A luncheon will immediately follow.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the care team at Heartland Hospice. Your
guidance and compassion helped us care for our loved one with dignity and grace. We are
forever grateful for your assistance.
