Mary L. Bailey, 80 of Rockford died Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Amberwood Care Center after a long battle with Dementia and Alzheimer’s. Born November 22, 1941, in Rockford, IL the daughter of Alexander and Idabelle Rolando. Mary Lee married Paul Bailey March 3, 1962, in Rockford where they stayed and raised their family. Mary Lee worked at her grandmother Scott’s bakery and later sold Avon while being a stay-at-home mother to her 3 children. With the love of baking from her family she enjoyed making treats around the holidays. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially when the grandkids and great grandkids came to visit. She loved to go on vacation and eating out at many different places. Mary Lee was a member of St. Edwards Catholic church.
Survivors include children Mary Frances, Robert (Marcy) and Donald (Constance), grandchildren Eric Bailey, Ashley (Joshua) Barnes and great-grandchildren Logan, Kaiden, Jacob, Jordan and Tristen all of Rockford. Siblings Alex (Maria) Rolando, Robert Rolando, William Rolando, Marcia (Robert) Adolph, Patricia (Donald) Williams, Bonnie Rolando and Denise (Bruce) Coleman and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Paul; parents Alexander and Idabelle; and brother Michael Rolando.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Amberwood Care Center and Mercy Hospice for all the care, concern and support they gave Mary.
Memorial mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Cathedral of St. Peter, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.
The family would like to invite you to a luncheon honoring Mary directly following the mass in the fellowship hall inside of St.Peter's Cathedral.
A private burial will follow.
