Mary Ann Christensen passed away on May 31, 2022, surrounded by her family, at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center, DeKalb IL. Mary Ann was born July 15, 1935 in Mapleton, IA to Christy William McClatchey and Mary Augusta Carrol. She is predeceased by her parents and siblings, June Wodtke, Audria Hamilton, Robert McClatchey and Russell McClatchey. She was also predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 64 years (2021), Martin Delano Christensen. She is survived by a brother Richard McClatchey, her four children, Kay Chase, Dave (Sharon) Christensen, Kathy (Gene) Heinsohn and Kelly (Dan) Meyer. Mary Ann graduated from University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Most of her long career as a nurse was in pediatrics at Meyer, Meyer and Albers in Lombard IL. She was very much loved by many of her patients at the clinic. Mary Ann most importantly enjoyed her family and hosted all of our family gatherings which she was able to do until just a few years ago. She also enjoyed sewing, ceramics, doll making and painting over the years.
Mary Ann and Martin enjoyed their retirement and loved being snow birds in Sun City West in AZ. She enjoyed her grandchildren and being so close to most of them in the Chicagoland area, making DeKalb a permanent residence. She is greatly missed by her family. Cremation has taken place and a family gathering will take place later this summer for a Celebration of Life for both Martin and Mary Ann.
