Michael “Mike” John Duyne passed away May 25, 2024. Mike was born May 30,1979 to Marvalynn (Jury) and John Duyne.
Mike was a tough looking guy on the outside but a real softie and selfless person on the inside, much like his mother. Even though he was not the richest man, he would give you his last if he had to. Mike was a kind, warm, caring and gentle man. He loved his family and friends more than anything, especially his children. His number one concern was making sure they were taken care of, and their needs were met. He truly just loved their company and to be in their presence. Michael was a great father, brother, uncle, son and friend. His children will miss him dearly, as will all his family and friends. Michael grew up playing basketball, baseball, soccer, and he also bowled. He was a huge New York Yankees fan. He also loved the Oakland Raiders, and the Chicago Bulls and developed his passion for basketball growing up watching Michael Jordan. He must have also studied Jordans trash talking because he could give you some serious lip if you were asking for it. Michael really loved rap music, his favorite artists were Tupac, Eminem, and Biggie Smalls. Mike loved to express himself through his tattoos and he demonstrated his love for his family numerous times by getting pieces done for them. Mike had one done for his daughter Payton, his son Koltan, father John, brother Rick, and brother-in-law Jay. Many misunderstood Mike but all he ever wanted to do was give love and be loved. He enjoyed spending time with company and in the presence of others, really connecting, making memories, and getting to know you. He always offered a completely judgement free zone if you needed to talk or confide in him. He would give you honest advice if he could speak from experience. No matter what he was going to give you genuine love, support, and uplifting words.
Mike’s organs were donated through Gift of Hope and were successfully transplanted into five recipients.
Mike is survived by his daughter Payton Duyne, sons Ryan Palmer and Koltan Duyne, sisters Sherie (Donnie) Woodburn, Rhonda Schnoor, Robin (Mark) Bumphrey, brother Robert (Donna) Duyne, nephews Ian (Kaity) Bumphrey, Cameron and Garrett Schnoor, nieces Megan (Caleb) Caveny and Paige (Jose) Gomez, four great nieces, aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Rick, and brother-in-law Jay.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday July 20 from noon to 3 pm at Rockton Inn, 102 E Main St, Rockton, IL. We will also celebrate the life of Mike’s mother Marvalynn Duyne who passed away January 13, 2023.
