Michael R. Effler, 59, of Belvidere, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, after a long illness. Born November 23, 1965, to his parents, James Effler and Helen Hill. He attended Belvidere High School and worked 26 years at Franklin Wire Works as a driver and dock/production worker. His father always said if he ever needed to go to Chicago, he wanted Mike to drive because he sure knew where to go. Mike had lots of hobbies. He loved his Miami Dolphins and his Pittsburgh Penguins. He was a train enthusiast and if he heard a train horn far away, he would pull over and stop just to watch it pass. Mike was also an avid softball player in his younger day, in both co-rec and men's league and loved the game. He was a collector of AC/DC music from the 80's.
Mike is survived by his parents; brother, Phil (Erin) Effler; nephew and niece, Jake and Rayley Effler and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025 in the Chapel at Highland Garden of Memories, with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Bruce Rose officiating. Burial to follow in Highland Garden of Memories Cemetery.
