Patricia Lynn Moneysmith

Patricia (Trish) Lynn Boyd-Moneysmith, of Poplar Grove, passed away in Oregon, IL on November 11, 2025 after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. She was born on November 22, 1956 in Grundy, VA to Carl and Ruth Boyd. A graduate of Grundy Senior High School, she later went on to graduate from Rock Valley College as a registered nurse and later the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with her BSN. Trish was proud of her long, successful nursing career. Over the years she loved caring for patients, supporting families, and mentoring new nurses. Former coworkers speak very fondly of working with Trish, often noting her positive attitude, willingness to help, and her heart for others.  While she was proud of her career, she was even prouder of her children and grandchildren. She delighted in spending time with family and made her children and grandchildren her top priority spending much of her time at school and sporting events or simply chasing the grandkids around outside. Trish had a sharp mind and an amazing sense of humor and she kept her family and friends laughing. Trish loved to explore and go on adventures; most recently she took her entire family on a southern Caribbean cruise this past summer and she held onto those memories as some of her favorites during the last weeks of her life. Trish was a devout follower of Christ and found great comfort in God’s peace.

Trish will be sorely missed by many but especially by those who loved her most, her children: Graham (Tara) Moneysmith and Lauren (Adam) Boyce; her seven cherished grandchildren, Elijah, Violet, Stella, and George Moneysmith and Benjamin, Natalie, and Amelia Boyce; her only brother Carl (Darlene) Boyd, and numerous other family members and friends. She is reunited in heaven with her parents Carl and Ruth Boyd.

A Celebration of Life for Trish will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Highland Garden of Memories Chapel in Belvidere, IL. Guests may visit with the family beginning at 11:00 a.m., with the service at 12:30 p.m. and an open house luncheon to follow beginning at 1:30.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Nurses House, supporting nurses in need and paying forward the compassion Trish showed in life.
