Paul Rea Obituary

Paul Dale Rea, of Roscoe, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, in his home.  Born June 3, 1941, in Alton, Illinois, the only son of Paul J. Rea and Ruth Vester McCormick.  He graduated from Genoa High School in 1959 and Illinois Weslyan University in 1963.  Paul worked at WREX TV, in Rockford, including behind the scenes of ‘The Roddy Mac Kids Show.’    

He received his Masters degree in Social Services at Northern Illinois University in 1969.  Paul wore many hats over his 36 year career working for the State of Illinois at H. Douglas Singer Mental Health & Developmental Center, Rockford, IL.  He started as an Activity Therapist, then as a Licensed Social Worker was a team leader of Adult Care Services, Labor Relations, Community System Liaison & retired in 2002 as the Mental Health Administrator.  Paul loved spending time with his children and grandchildren attending sporting and extra-curricular events as they grew up.

Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He enjoyed golfing in his retirement.

Survived by his second wife of 25 years Laura; daughter Michele Blaser, Winnebago; son Scott Rea, Roscoe; his grandsons Jake Blaser, Donovan Alsosa, Christian Rea, and several cousins and nieces and nephews.

The family will have a private service.
