Paul Douglas Zuroske, 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at home after a
long illness. Paul was born on August 23, 1954, to Fred and Dolores (Lawson) Zuroske in
Harvey, Illinois. The family moved to the Rockford area in 1967 and Paul graduated from
Jefferson High School in 1972. Paul worked for most of his career at the Chrysler Belvidere
Assembly Plant, completing his tenure as a skilled tradesman in air tool repair. He was an avid
Chicago Cubs fan, suffering through decades of losing seasons, but always remaining optimistic.
He was also devoted to the Chicago Bears, often enjoying the games at his parent’s house eating
chili with his father, brothers, and friends.
Paul was a generous soul and had many long-time friends. He enjoyed good music, particularly
Leon Russell, and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his brothers. He always enjoyed his
family’s yearly reunions where the majority of the Zuroske clan gathered for good food and tall
tales.
Pre-deceased by his father Fred (2021) and his mother Dolores (2016). Paul is survived by his
brother Patrick (Evelyn) Zuroske, of Santa Barbara, CA; and brother Fred (Sheila) Zuroske of
Belvidere, IL, and several nieces and nephews. At Paul’s behest, there will be no funeral or
memorial and his ashes will be committed to his favorite spot on the Gulf of Mexico outside of
the Alden Resort in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to
Lisa and the crew at OSF Hospice for their compassion and support.
