Paula Stedman

Paula Stedman, 69, of Rockford, IL passed away on March 12th, 2024, at Swedish American Hospital alongside her husband of 38 years, Bob Stedman.

Paula was born on March 21st, 1954, to Paul Carey and Dorothy Bean in Rockford, IL. Having grown up in a large family, family meant everything and soon Paula became a mother herself and entered a life of dedication and selflessness. 

Paula always wanted to be a mother but was never able to have a second child. Fortunately, she was able to enjoy a second motherhood, by getting to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

As a single mother, life wasn’t easy, but with her drive and motivation she quickly found a career in office management working for companies such as Testors, Elco, and Swedish American Hospital.  

In 1985, Paula met her future husband Bob at Park Lanes Bowling Alley. They eventually got married at Emerald Acres and settled in for an amazing journey. Together they enjoyed camping, boating, and fishing but most of all being close with their families. Paula had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone she could. 

In 2019 Paula joined Bob in retirement and spent her time with her best friend Bob going to their campground in Wisconsin. She had a special place in her heart for her pets. One Dog named Jasmine was credited by her as saving her life in 2009.

Paula was predeceased by Dorothy Bean/Hoover (Mother), Paul Carey (Father), Bill Carey (Brother), and Steve Farr (Brother). Paula is survived by Bob Stedman (Husband), Jonathon Cabrera (Son). Brothers Mike Carey, Sherman Hoover, and Shawn Hoover. Sisters Lorraine Scholl, Kathryn Joneson, and Crystal Schmittel. Grandchildren, Cheyanne Cabrera, Nikole Cabrera, Mace Logan Cabrera, Gretchen Poff, Waylon Cabrera. Great Grandchildren Amaya English, Imariana Williams, and Meadow Zies.
