Randal R. Sunday
November 12, 1956 - July 25, 2025
Randal Sunday passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family.
Randal Sunday was born at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford IL, son of Gertrude Carlson Sunday and Richard Sunday.
He leaves behind: Wife Patti Ann Bremer, daughter Allison Sunday (Jomar Begonia) and son Daniel Sunday, brothers, sisters, cousins, mother-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Randy had a very vibrant singing voice and became the lead singer in many bands. At just 13 years old, he was in the Yes band with older brothers Ron and Bob. In 1981, his band Joker earned a spot on the Y95 Homegrown album. Dubbed "The Beef" for beefing up the lyrics (Steve Ronk). Later in life, Randy reunited with Joe La Salla, old friend from their original Yes band. They had an awesome time time singing, playing and recording, for many years until Joe passed. Randy's last performance was with Matt Lightcapp's band, Attitudes at Tad's on the Rock.
Randy's career spanned from auto mechanic, warehouse manager, building and grounds maintenance, to park maintenance (his favorite job). He was a creative, capable, and determined man with a strong work ethic and a can-do attitude.
In 2009, Randy and Patti met in church where Randy and sisters Elaine and Marlene were musical talent, and Patti and her Mom were visiting. They fell in love, quickly married, and have been together ever since.
Randy enjoyed riding his bike, visiting the library and parks, and walks with Alpha dog.
In 2017, Randy and Patti moved to the country with their horses. They loved each other, and the life they built on the farm very much. Randy enjoyed working in his garden and mowing the lawn. He loved visiting with the kids, (watching Cubs), and grilling for the family. He greatly enjoyed meeting his brothers for lunch. Randy loved the outdoors, campfires, and a good cup of coffee on a slow morning.
He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many.
Until we meet again...
