Randall "Randy" L. Bunger

Randall L. Bunger 1948 – 2018

Randall L. Bunger, 69, died Sunday night, June 24, 2018 in his home in Belvidere Illinois.  Born July 28, 1948, in Belvidere IL.; son of Herbert and Alvina Boomgarden Bunger.  Randy, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Belvidere High School, and has been a Belvidere resident his entire life.   After high school he attended sheet metal trade school, where he became a member of Local 219 for 28 years.   During that time, he married Ruth A. Roettger, in Pecatonica IL, on July 25, 1970. 

Randy farmed all his life until early retirement due to a tractor accident. He was a member of Big Thunder Grange, served on the fair board and was a member of numerous other offices. Randy was an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity where he could be found making meals for many workers.  He was also an active member of the Belvidere Moose Club, where he achieved the Fellowship Degree of Honor, just last year for his outstanding devotion to the Moose Cause. This character of Randy’s can be traced back as far as his childhood where he was caught in the house nursing a sick calf back to health. Randy was the type of person that would drop everything if you called him and because of that many lives have been touched by his generous kindness. 

Predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Alvina Bunger, sister Velora Persson, three brothers in law, Carl Persson, Tom Treadway and Dick Roettger.  He was also predeceased by extended family, both his father and mother in law, Joe and Lorraine Roettger and two brothers in law, Randy Koning and Bill Rowe.  Lastly, Randy was also predeceased by his daughter Julie Ann.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, John (Jackie), Roscoe, and Adam (Melanie), Belvidere; grandchildren, Trevor, Ryan and Madison Bunger, Kaitlyn Mule’ and Drake Bunger; siblings, Dixie (Dick) Allen, Crystalyn Mays, Herbert (Barb) Bunger, Iris Humphrey (Dean Page); numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008, from 11:00 – 1:00P.M. with service to follow.   Graveside services will be held at Belvidere Cemetery following the funeral services.
