Richard W Kallal

Richard W. Kallal, age 78, died peacefully in his home on August 3, 2023. He was a graduate of
Marengo High School class of 1963. He proudly served as an operating room technician and
field medic in the United States Army. It was while he served in the Army that he met and
married Barbara Massey. He worked for District U-46 in Elgin for 33 years in maintenance.
Mr. Kallal enjoyed gardening and his hobby farm with his registered Jerseys. He is survived by
his wife Barbara of 56 years; two sisters Patricia Trotz and Mary Lou Fischer; his cousin
Margaret Fullmer; four children Maggie Kallal, Cheryl (Joseph) Braxton, Joseph (Sarah) Kallal,
Mary (David) Harding; seven grandchildren Kyle Braxton, Josephine Kallal, Taylor Braxton,
Jordyn Braxton, Joseph R. Kallal, Serena Kallal, and Samantha Harding; and many nieces and
nephews.
Mr. Kallal was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Josephine Kallal, brothers Charles
and Robert Kallal, sister June Meyer, and grandchildren Chase and Tara Harding. There will be a
short graveside service with details to be determined at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice,
Illinois. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
