Rita Ann Porter

Rita Ann Porter, “Mimi” 71, of Belvidere, IL passed away on June 15, 2021 at home. She was born June 29, 1949 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Harry and Mary (Albrecht) Porter. Rita attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from Auburn High School in 1967. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, crafting, and spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, and her cats.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ross Porter Sr; her nephew, Matthew Brown; and many cats. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Ann Porter, April (David) Wilhoit, and Autumn Porter; her grandchildren Dakota Porter, Alexis Porter, Kolton Porter, Hudson Porter, Aubree Paul, and Laila Freeman; her grandchildren’s fathers; her nephew Ross (Stephanie) Porter Jr; her niece Christina Porter-Anderson; her sister-in-law Carole Porter; three great nieces; many friends and all of her “adopted” children.

On behalf of her family, we would like to thank her caregiver Beth Brown who was able to spend the most time with her over the last year and a half than any of us and who went above and beyond in her care of Rita.

Memorial services for Rita will be Sunday June 27th at Highland Gardens in Belvidere, IL from 1pm-3pm, with the funeral service at 2pm. Burial in Ashton Cemetery in Ashton, IL Tuesday June 29th.
