Robert Childs

Robert “Bob” E. Childs, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.  He is survived by Jane, his loving wife of 63 years.  He was the proud father of Diana, David (Tracy), Catherine (David) Washburn, and Christa (Richard) Paul; dear grandfather of Patrick (Andrea), and Ryan Childs, Julie (Ty) Brumback, Peter VanDixhorn, Joshua, Timothy, Jonathan (Danielle), and Rachel Washburn, Nicholas (Kayla), Daniel, and Anna Paul; great-grandfather of Eliana, Annabelle, Benjamin, Malachi, and Chloe Brumback, Wesley Washburn, and Adley Paul; brother of Charles Childs.  He is preceded in death by his parents Paul Sr. and Earlene Childs and brothers Paul Jr. and David.

Bob enjoyed sharing stories of his travels to the Middle East and Europe, as well as his time served in the Air Force while stationed in Canada.  Bob, an avid photographer, could be seen with a camera around his neck capturing memories at family gatherings as well as sporting events at North Boone High School, where he volunteered for several years.  Bob and Jane attended the Special Olympics for a number of years, where he took photos and they served as volunteers.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at Bethany Road Bible Church, 2215 Bethany Rd, Dekalb, IL 60115.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Oklahoma Special Olympics at sook.org in Robert’s memory.
