Robert L. Shacklee

Robert Lewis Shacklee, 84, of Rockford, IL, passed away on October 10, 2023. Born on January 2, 1939, in Olny, IL. also known as “Bob” at a young age moved to Marengo IL. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Bob is survived by his sons Ronnie, Scottie, and Jimmy, his daughter Robin, as well as his 10 grandchildren and a dozen great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his father William, mother Mildred, brothers William & Frank, sisters Suzie,  Jackie & Sally, and his daughters Treana & Pam. 

Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he formed deep bonds with his fellow servicemen. His military associations were an important part of his life and shaped his character. After his military service, Bob dedicated himself to a successful career as a Millwright for Arnolds Engineering until his retirement in 1995. His expertise and dedication were greatly valued by his colleagues.  Bob Shacklee will be remembered for his love and trust to his family, his commitment to serving his country, and his dedication to his profession. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His compassion for camping and travel with his life partner Judy King who passed away in 2008. Those adventures were part of his greatest memories.  

In accordance with Bob's wishes, Celebration of life at the American Legion in Belvidere on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 3:00-6:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a veterans' organization of your choice. Please share your condolences and memories of Bob Shacklee on the online guestbook
