Ronald E. Fox

Ronald (Ron) Eugene Fox, 89, of Rockford, Illinois passed away peacefully on February 4,
2026. Ron was born on February 2, 1937 in Freeport, IL to John and Ilene (Beal) Fox. He
graduated from Durand High School and attended UW Madison school of banking. He was
honorably discharged from the US Army in June 1958. He was married on April 15, 1960 to
Vera Litwinchuk and together they raised two children. He worked in commercial banking from
July 5, 1960 until 1999 when he retired as Vice President from Amcore Bank in Rockford, IL. In
retirement, he spent time at their lake house on Castle Rock Lake in Wisconsin, where he
enjoyed fishing, boating, water skiing and cheering on the Green Bay Packers with many friends
and family. Ron was an active participant in Junior Achievement and served on the board of
Greenwood Cemetery in Rockford, IL. Ron’s generosity, sense of humor, and contagious laugh
will be missed.
Ron is survived by his wife of 64 years, Vera; son Jeff (Donna Johnson); daughter Kristin (Tony)
Hammes; and grandson Jonah Hammes, Ron’s pride and joy. He is also survived by several
nieces and nephews. Ron is predeceased by his parents; in-laws Anton and Melania
Litwinchuk; sister and brother-in-law Gloria and Wayne Tracy; niece Teri Honer; and nephew
Tom Rakuc. Ron’s ashes will be spread at Castle Rock Lake at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be given to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
