Sheila Marie Bates
February 5th, 1962 - September 7th, 2021

With heavy hearts, the Bates family regrets to announce the passing of our beloved ”Sissy” Sheila Marie Bates after a courageous battle with cancer age 59 Rockford, IL.  Her sense of humor, her loving and warm heart, and her generous spirit will be deeply missed. The simplest pleasures in life such as playing Bunco with her friends, fishing and camping, helping people get through life’s difficulties and volunteering at the Old Stone Church food pantry every week, brought her the greatest joy.  Sheila Marie is survived by her two brothers Tim (Peggy) Bates & James Bates, and her loving fiancé Buzz Reader, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Opal Bates Rockford, IL and her older brother Ron Bates,Rockford, lL her husband Al Hood of Machesney Park, IL. Special thanks goes to Dorothy Bates, Kathy Reader, Heartland Hospice, Pink Heals, the Hood family and The Shirley Hood Cancer Foundation and all her friends and family.
A celebration of Life will be at the The Old Stone Church.  September 25th 2p-4p, 101 E. Union St. Rockton, IL 61072 Food and refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Rockton Food Pantry. The Old Stone Church 101 Union St, Rockton Il 61072.
