Sonja G. Reuther

Sonja G. Reuther- February 19, 1929 - March 10, 2023

Sonja passed away peacefully at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL March 10, 2023. She was born in Mannheim Germany where she was the eldest of 3 sisters. After moving to the United States, she learned english with the aid of comic books then becoming the successful owner of several franchises of the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in both Canada and United States for many years. After selling the studios she became a successful realtor and owner of a real estate company for the remainder of her working career. She is preceded in death by her parents Isolina Trefz and Hanz Trefz, husband Frederick Reuther and her youngest sister Petra Berger. She is survived by her daughter Georgina L. Christides, son in-law Christopher Christides, my mother in-law Nancy Christides, sister Ruth Ackermann of Germany and best friend Marilyn McDowell of Spokane, WA. Sonja recently lived with her daughter and son in-law in Byron, IL since 2019 when she moved from Spokane, WA where she resided for 43 years. She was known for being a vibrant, generous, and loving person. She had many friends over the years and all would say she had a huge smile, contagious laugh and enjoyed being around people. She loved to play 24/7 bridge and hearts on her computer and loved to watch the birds outside her window flutter around the birdhouses that her son in-law Chris built for her. On most days you could catch her singing along with Dean Martin to her favorite song Volare. We would like to thank the Serenity Hospice and Home for the wonderful care they gave her during her journey and how blessed we were to have such caring people help us through this difficult time. My mom will be forever in my heart as well as many others whose lives she touched. I can still hear her singing with Dean. We love you mom!!!
