Steven "Petey" R. Petersen

Steven (Petey) Ray Petersen age 68 died 6/14/25 at home with his wife Diane and his dogs Gotti and Bristol at his bedside- born 2/6/57 to Bonnie and Paul Petersen, lifelong loves park resident, went to Harlem high school. Worked at Rocky's tap for 20 years ending at Sonco pools and spas. Married Diane (Johnson) Petersen 7/10/92. Petey was an avid NASCAR and Chicago bears fan and nothing made him happier then to be with friends in his garage watching races/games with them. He participated in the Loves park police/business grudge races at the Rockford speedway for nearly 30 years as a racer and fundraiser to local charities. He loved anything about cars after his brother-in-law Doug put him under the hood at the tender age of 6. He leaves behind his wife Diane, son Fred (Amy) Ekberg, granddaughter Adestin Ekberg, nephew/Godson Blake (Sydney) Donaldson, niece Megan Schumann, nephews Paul  (Tammy) D. Petersen,  Connor and Garrett Donaldson, James Johnson, Lucus Johnson and niece Alivia Johnson. Sisters Kelly (Rick) Allen, Marlene (Daryl) Donaldson, brother Mark Petersen, Aunt Phyllis Huber and brother-in-law Craig Swenson, sister-in laws Theresa Johnson , Linda (Tom) Schuepbach and "little bro" Steve (Tanya) Johnson and many cousins and great nieces/nephews., lifelong friends. Predeceased by his parents Bonnie and Paul, beloved sister Debra Moline-Swenson, brother in law Doug Molina. Celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
