Terri Saatio O'Neill

Terri Saatio O’Neill, 62, of Winnebago, IL gained her wings peacefully after a 20 year battle with cancer. She was born in Hancock, Michigan at St. Joseph’s Hospital and grew up in the town of South Range, Michigan. She graduated from Jeffers High School and later Northern Michigan University and Rock Valley College. Terri had many hobbies including but not limited to: showing and raising standard schnauzers, sewing, crocheting, art, reading, traveling, genealogy, researching history of the copper country, baking, concerts especially Bob Seger, watching hockey, and most importantly spending time with her friends and family as well as her beloved german shepherd Seger and cockatiel Sammy. Terri was a selfless free spirit and firm believer in God and the power of prayer. Her smile and laugh was highly contagious and could brighten your mood even on the worst days. She loved her children more than anything and devoted her life to raising them with unconditional love. Terri would not want her loved ones to mourn her, but to smile remembering all the fun memories shared with her. Although Terri is no longer with us she will always have a permanent place in our hearts. Her beautiful soul had an everlasting impact on everyone around her. She always tried to find a positive in any situation according to God’s plan for her, and will continue by being the best guardian angel for all her friends and family. 

Terri was predeceased by her father Fred Saatio. Survived by her mother Patricia Saatio, two children: Matthew O’Neill and Tiffany O’Neill, two brothers: Ray Saatio and Randy (Julie) Saatio, four nephews: Ryan (Joanna) Saatio, Kyle (Ashley) Saatio, Scott (Michelle) Saatio, and Brad Saatio, niece Kristin (Matt) Elliott, two great nieces and one great nephew. 

Services will be held as two seperate Celebrations of Life this summer. One will be held in the Greater Rockford, Illinois area and the final one will be held in Houghton County, Michigan as Terri’s ashes are set to be spread in the Copper Country after her final Celebration of Life. Date and times are pending.
