Troy Gowler, of Sycamore, Illinois, passed away on February 23, 2026, at the home he
shared with his partner, Kyra Rider, for more than twenty years.
Troy spent much of his life in Elgin and worked a variety of handson jobs, from tree
service and sewer work to rebuilding Harleys. Known for his stories and his love of
friends, hot rods, and drag racing, he was happiest tinkering in the garage, grilling, and
chatting with neighbors. In recent years, he returned to building and painting model
cars, a favorite hobby from childhood.
He is survived by his mother, Jessie Cummins; siblings Teresa (Les) Reinert, Clark
Gowler, and Cody (Andrea) Gowler; his nephew, Chad Reinert; children Douglas
Gowler and Delacy Danks-Gowler, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
beloved Grandma Gowler, Uncle Pete, and his father, Douglas Gowler.
A celebration of Troy’s life will be held this summer at his sister’s home in South Elgin.
Details will be shared in the coming months.
