Walter S. “Walt” Taylor, 57, of Rockford passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020. Born August 19, 1962, in Phil Campbell, Alabama, the son of J.C. Taylor and Martha Johnson Benjamin. Walt came to Rockford in 1970 and went to Rockford Public Schools. He loved to go fishing, hunting and camping with Billy. Walt enjoyed helping his mom clean house and cook his favorite foods-fried chicken and homemade biscuits and chocolate gravy. He liked to sing. Walt had his dog, Bud, that he loved. Bud would go for bicycle rides in a cart that Walt would pull behind. He attended the First Apostolic Church of Rockford.
Survived by his mother, Martha; siblings, Oscar Taylor, Burnie Dillard, Shirley White, Patricia Taylor, Wanda Perry, Susan Benjamin, Kimberly Benjamin and Charlenn Williams, who was his favorite sister; brothers-in-law, Kelly Dillard, Cecil White, Ben Perry and Dave Willer; sisters-in-law, Karen Taylor and Vicky Taylor; step-daughters, Kristy Johnson and Cassandra Worley and son, Lucas Benjamin. He has a host of nephews and nieces, including his favorite niece, Amber Taylor. Preceded in death by his father, J.C. Taylor and brothers, J.C. Jr. and Billy Taylor.
